⚸ In the name of the Moon
you'll be punishedSailor Moon Crystal: Episode 6 Review
by Mikari
The episode starts with Moon Kingdom flashback dreams and shirtless Mamoru fan service as he wakes up, not complaining.
A bit later the girls are walking to school when they run into Mamoru. A report airs on TV about Tuxedo Mask searching for the legendary silver crystal. It's followed up by a report from a supposed expert, which is actually Zoycite in disguise. Everyone who watches the show is hypnotized into searching for the crystal, though I think ordinary humans wouldn't really know what it looks like. At this point I doubt Zoycite was ever a male character outside of (supposedly) the manga. It's a she in the original English version, and I don't know Japanese, but everything points to Zoycite being a woman in Crystal. Unless Z is proven to be boobless, I'm going to assume she's female.
Luna shows Usagi, Amy, Mako and Rei her secret underground Crown Arcade headquarters, which is totally awesome. They argue due to suspecting Tuxedo Mask and Usagi defending him. She runs off and Tuxedo finds her out in the street. Meanwhile, the other Sailors get into a fight on a rooftop with Zoycite and even Beryl shows up to fight. This is quite different from the original anime, where Beryl sits around until the Sailors go to her.
Usagi plays dumb about being Sailor Moon until Tuxedo reveals that he already knows. Seeing the fight in the distance, Usagi transforms to save her friends. She uses the crescent moon wand, Zoycite takes the hit for Beryl and they retreat. Sailor Moon then floats over the city, healing all the hypnotized humans with her wand. Afterwards, she faints and Tuxedo Mask takes her to his apartment, where he reveals his identity.
Some note worthy things about this episode are: Mamoru lost his memory in a car accident at age 6. He wants to know who he is and thinks the silver crystal will bring answers. So his reasons are more than having dreams of his past life? I doubt the crystal has anything to do with Mamoru's reincarnation. The accident sounds like a coincidence, though it's odd to bring it up and not use it later. He also claims not to have special abilities like the Sailors. Now that I think about it, he hasn't been using roses like in the original anime. Tuxedo Mask without a red rose to announce his entrance is a bit unusual when I stop to think about it. I guess I'm just used to associating him with roses.
There is a big red R on top of the building where the Sailors fight. If it was a helipad, it should have an H. I can only conclude that the building belongs to Team Rocket (Pokemon). Another detail that caught my attention was Mamoru's pocket watch, which seems to play the role of the moon locket in the remake. How did he keep the locket after reincarnating? Was it somehow transformed into energy and stored in his spirit and later came out? Or it is simply a plot hole of some sort? Lastly, we finally caught a brief glimpse of Sailor V and Artemis, so we might see more of them soon.
